Unexpected Father’s Day Visits

Hubby had to work yesterday. It’s not a super-major holiday so it wasn’t one he even tried to take off.  That’s up to him, since it’s a holiday just for him.

His Dad moved across the mountains 9 years ago and we don’t see him and his step-mom as often anymore because of it. That’s frustrating since we like spending time with them. I mean, how many girls can say they like to be around their in-laws? Being around my FIL is seeing exactly what my husband will be in 30 years. Even more of a total PAIN IN THE ASS lol

Happy Mother’s Day

This holiday is not one of my favorites. In fact, it could be my least favorite. Even behind Valentine’s day and that’s saying a lot. There’s this huge media hype and unrealistic expectations are set for what to expect on this day. No matter what happens, it seems like there are so many women that are disappointed. Especially my friends that can’t have kids or are trying. It’s like a big slap in the face.

purple flowersI went shopping yesterday with the youngest and grabbed some flowers so my pots don’t look so sad this year. I even got them planted, which is a huge step around here. They are now my Mother’s Day present to myself it looks like. Glad I did it.

Prom Night Firefighter Style

We got luckier than I could have hoped. Prom landed on B shift and we didn’t know ahead so he didn’t get it off. BUT, he was able to come home for a couple of hours when her boyfriend picked her up. That was awesome that we knew he could at least see her in person when she was all dolled up.

Anniversaries Apart

I haven’t gotten in a groove here with the firefighter wife posts but we’ll get there. I just worry about overloading the site with them and chasing others off. Oh wait, who am I pretending to be? Wow, this just got me scared. Am I not posting things because of what I think other readers want to see?

Let’s just move on from that. I’m too overloaded to analyze right now.

A couple of weeks ago was the 23rd anniversary of our first date. On St. Paddy’s day to be exact.  Like other anniversaries, I spent it without him. Such is life as a firefighter wife.
