So just what in the hell am I talking about? He’s on a 48 hour shift and I’m still up. In fact I’m super-duper awake at 1:30am which is a really bad thing. Except the kids are at a friends house and he obviously isn’t going to be home at 8:30 to wake me up so is it really a bad thing?
I used to chat about the fire dept stuff here. Then I started my fire wife blog and it all went there. Flash forward to not being able to keep up with it all and here I am back posting my fire life where it belongs. On my personal blog.
I went on a girls night before this 48 hour shift started so that makes it even longer. I’m going to visit him at the station and hope he’ll be around but not the same of course. The saving grace is he’s working the extra shift as a trade for his vacation time and we’re off as a family for a long camping trip. Totally worth the missing him right now.
12 days and we will be back at this camping spot that I love so much with the friends and family I love dearly. It’s going to be so much fun!
Are you a fire wife, mom, or other family member?

I don’t have any firemen in my family, but I imagine it would be stressful if I did. With professions like that I’d be worried if they’d be coming home at the end of the day!
I don’t “generally” worry about that. It’s just such a back and forth schedule. I get used to him being home and then all the sudden he’s gone for 24+ hours. Missing him after 18 years of marriage means we are doing something right
