4 years ago I created what could be considered a bucket list. Except I put a goal of it happening before 50, not just before I die. I called it my 25 before 50.
I hadn’t looked at it for at least a year. I was happy to be able to cross off 2 more things. We visited Grand Coulee Dam last summer on vacation with my MIL and stepFIL. While the dam is huge. It sure wasn’t as big as I remembered it when I was little. But then, that was the old days when you could do more. My parent’s friend worked in the dam and we got a private tour. It does look much more impressive from above, but you can no longer go out there to the best view. Thanks a lot terrorists, one more thing you’ve taken.
The whole area is still amazing and seeing what it all looked like before the dam is crazy. I was thankful the boy is older so we could take the time to read all the history. The project was massive. Go to google earth and take a look at the dam and Lake Roosevelt. Pull up that link above to see how many acres of land were flooded. Ginormous is an appropriate word for the lake. I wish we’d stayed in a better location so we could rent jet ski’s. Plenty of room to go fast on the lake and not see another soul.
We go on an annual camping trip with friends. I believe this will be our 8th year, it could be 9 this upcoming summer. It’s a group of 5 couples and sometimes more. All the kids and a ton of fun. Everyone is in different stages of family life. Last year the boy didn’t want to go, so we technically went camping just us. Everyone missed him, but he’s old enough to make the choice. That’s the first trip of many, many, many more to come. So there’s 2 crossed off without even trying.
Full blown wine tour? I should have written more about what I meant with that. What’s a full blown wine tour? This summer we stopped at 3 wineries in one day. Pretty sure that’s a full blown wine tour, so I just crossed it off. We’ll be going on quite a few more when we get a chance to visit my FIL who lives in Walla Walla. There are over 140 wineries and Dad has been a sweetheart and is looking for my favorites and making friends. I’m looking forward to a tour of spots he’s found for me.
I’m also hoping to get a girls weekend planned. Not positive if that can happen due to friends having little ones, but I’m going to throw it out there and see if they are game. If not, then I’m definitely getting a girls night planned at the very least.
One big thing I hope to work on is creating a new holiday tradition. It’s not the easiest thing to do. Each year for the last 3 years has been very different and it will only continue to change as the boy graduates. Last Christmas the girl had just moved out to her new apartment at college. I created an advent calendar for her and I’m hoping I can keep that going again next year. She brought it back here when she came home for Christmas. It should be easy for me to restock it with a little note and gift for each day.
After the boy graduates and we figure out what’s going on for college, the list can start getting crossed off even more. We’ll be looking for property or a new house (still undecided) and can get a trip to Cali in again. My hope is those things within a year. If we get property, that could lead to the RV! lol
We are ready to put our place on the market. I’m going to paint our master and the master bath this weekend. We’re going to get new furniture for in there. That will be another one crossed off soon. Easier to cross off since I have a big motivator…get this place looking pretty and put it on the market. And get these projects finished up before the boys graduation party in June. Hubby is putting in our pellet stove this week and I should take a picture of the wreck that is my house right now. Furniture everywhere lol
I’m down to 7 years to get this list finished. Most of them I feel strong I will do. Some of them, like Mexico, aren’t a high priority for me anymore. If we are going to leave the country we actually are adding bigger destinations than just a trip to Mexico. Just depends on where we move. If I get my view property, I’m not going to care about traveling as much.
Do you have a bucket list or a list of things you’d like to do/accomplish within the next 10 years?
