Fire Friday: Surprise OT

It’s been a really busy set this week since he pulled a 24 OT to start it off. One more day left of the set tomorrow. Which was supposed to mean a little bit of time to see him today on the day between shifts. Ended up not being the case.

Saw him 20 minutes after shift before I went to teach class. Then he was off to work a couple of hours at the Fill the Boot drive for MDA. Then he crashed in the recliner and took a nap. Woke him up just in time to get a message that there was OT available immediately. So after typing it out, I’m not exaggerating in my head that I saw him a total of maybe 2 hours today.  Oh well, there’s always Sunday.

We’ll see if we can’t stop by the station tomorrow to visit if they are around. That’s always hit or miss obviously.

But this isn’t me complaining. With the budget crunch there has been very little OT in the last two years. Many that didn’t previously take OT are needing to since we took a budget crunch and concessions so no layoffs were needed. Especially this time of year with school starting and then going into the holidays.

I’m glad he had the option to take it and it didn’t ruin any plans. Just being able to catch up on our days we haven’t seen each other and chill out watching tv or movies.

It’s just been a really odd week and still have to get up early tomorrow. Son started actual football practices for the high school team this week. They have two-a-days tomorrow. So I still have to get up. We’re both looking forward to Sunday and sleeping in…until Dad comes home from work and wakes us up lol

On a sidenote they are making progress containing the Taylor Bridge Fire in Cle Elum. Our buddy is over there so any safe thoughts sent his way are appreciated. It also looks like it’s going to stay away from our other friend’s Dad’s place which makes us really happy. If you have a chance and can donate to the Red Cross it is always helpful.

How did your week go?
