Fender Bender

Not me, but my son’s school bus. Everyone is just fine, it was a minor one. Just couldn’t stop at the light and slid into the car in front of them. I feel really bad for the bus driver. The roads were so bad.
Well I got the call from the receptionist at my gym at 11:10 that the school had called. BIG SIGH. I’ve told them to call my cell phone, the gym has nothing to do with me, I just work out of it. Granted i am friends with them, but it is not their responsibility to call me and give personal messages. But as I was on the phone with them, the health clerk was leaving a message on my cell. Not sure how that happened without me hearing a click.
The message says that there was a minor fender bender, but everyone is just fine. That my son had complained his neck hurt a little and told the cops that, but she just pulled him out of PE (where he was playing dodgeball!!!) and he seemed fine. Well I call back and leave a message that I got the message and thank you for checking in, blah, blah, i do like the health clerk, she’s a sweetie. But think on this, school started at 10am, so why am I getting a call an hour later when my son complained of neck pain? Oh, it’s gonna get better, but remember he is ok.
She calls me at 1:15 because his neck hurts and he’s starting to get a headache. I talk to him and he wants to come home. Ok, I go tell my client we have to reschedule and I call my next appointment and do the same and I’m there in minutes. I get there and we are chatting about it all and low and behold the cops never even called the medics to the accident. My son told them he had neck pain and that story hasn’t changed no matter how many times I’ve asked him (you know how kids are) and he said that there were 2 other kids that complained about it too. I assumed the medics had been there and written off that they were ok. Since hubby and our good friend are on shift today, I honestly wasn’t worried cause i knew what medics were there to check them out. So no one has checked them out professionally and do remember that my son was playing dodgeball in PE! ARGHHHH, yep, the boiling point is rising.
We went over to the fire station to get advice and then head to the doc’s office. They weren’t going to be able to fit us in until I told them what happened. They were awesome and got us in and in about 15 minutes no less. They ROCK and I’m so sending them a thank you letter. The doc thought it just seemed like a mild case of whiplash, but because of where he was complaining of the pain being she wanted some xrays. So off to there and done in minutes there as well. Nurse called back an hour after being home and there is no fractures or breaks. Ice packs and advil are in order.
There were quite a few balls dropped on this that I’m not happy about. They wanted me to call them and let them know how any check ups went and I will, but I really need to write a letter to a few people. What if something serious had been wrong with his neck? It was 2:30 before we got done at the doc’s office. That is not acceptable.
