title pic You’ve heard our finances

Well I make no bones about finances around here. I don’t hide from it. We’ve made stupid decisions here and there and we’re always trying to recover from them. Unfortunately the thing is, we still like to go play and have fun, so we can’t stick to a budget very well. We are doing much better now that hubby gets paid once a month, but my finances are still crap since my checks are sporadic. Oh well, such is life. I have to be able to write my own schedule since hubby is gone for 24 hours at a time.

He’s been talking with a financial planner a lot because they have one that takes care of their investments for them through the union/department. That’s been cool. One thing that kills us is our home loan. We were desperate when we bought this place and we couldn’t afford property to put it on. It’s a beautiful 1800sq. ft., top of the line manufactured home, but we get screwed on the mortgage because most won’t finance it without it being on property we own.

One solution will be to move it onto a piece of land next year. I’m actually very game for this. The floor plan isn’t my dream home, but I could live in here until at least the kids get done with school. Especially if we had some property to build a big garage on. I would rather have low mortgage loans and take lots of vacations and own an RV, than to buy the big house right now. Putting this on a lot would also greatly increase the value because it is 1800sq. ft.

We’ve learned our lesson and try not to jump into anything. When we do get a regular mortgage we will probably have the same payments for more value. That is how bad the interest is on this place.
