2. No Valeria, does not rhyme with diarrhea. 3. I am named after my Grandmother that passed away at my exact age. 4. My Grandmother was named after her parent’s best friend’s daughter that passed away as a child. They were Russian fur trappers. ( cool story, I like that history. ) 5. I never had the nickname Val until Jr. High. You can tell those in my life that were before and after. lol My Mother was only 11 when Grandma died and she never knew that her real name was Valeria until after her death. So she made EVERYONE call me by my full name. 6. I LOVE MY NAME. But didn’t growing up liking it so much, since you have to explain it all the time. 7. Many people love to call me by my full name. It’s like a sense of accomplishment when they can get the pronunciation correct. LMAO 8. The first person that I ever saw the same name was on Sesame Street. One of the ladies that worked on it had the same name. 9. Second person wasn’t until Valeria Golino from Pee-Wee’s big top adventure. But wrong pronunciation as she is Spanish. 10. ” V ” is fun as an initial. 11. “V” is easy to find on clothing, towels, etc. As there aren’t many of us out there. It also hits clearance more often. BAHAHAHA 12. Bad side, there is no crazy spelling or nickname for Val. It just is. My friends were doing the Cindi, Nicci, etc. and I couldn’t change mine with anything. 13. Oh did I mention i love my name? It’s unique. I rarely run into another Val, let alone EVER a Valeria. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! |

V is a very cool initial. You got lucky with the clearances and whatnot. I’m hard pressed to find an L because there are so many names that start with L … even if hardly any of them are Loretta.

I love your name as well.
It’s different. According to Wiki, “Valeria is a female given name dating back to the Latin verb valere. The male version is Valerius, Valerio or Valery…It means “strong, healthy, or capable.”
(Valere in Latin translates to “to be worth”.)

How cool! There was a Valerie on TV when I was a kid, but that’s about the only one I’ve ever come across.
